Can I charge any type of electric car using Wenea chargers?
That’s right. Our chargers are compatible with all electric vehicle models.
Do I need to use my own charging cable or are they provided?
For slow/fast charging, you should use the Type 2 charge cable provided with your car, connecting it into the AC socket of the charging unit.
For rapid charging, you should use the tethered cables from the charger and plug this into your vehicle’s charging port. Rapid chargers do not support Type 1 cables.
Why should I precondition my electric vehicle´s battery?
Preconditioning the battery in an electric vehicle (EV) involves adjusting its temperature before you start driving, usually while the vehicle is still plugged in. This process offers several key benefits:
Battery protection and performance: Keeping the battery within its optimal temperature range helps reduce wear and improves performance. By heating or cooling the battery while it’s connected to a charging station, you reduce the need to use battery energy to regulate its temperature during the drive, which preserves its range.
Greater efficiency in extreme climates: In very cold conditions, preconditioning minimizes the impact that low temperatures can have on the EV’s range and performance. This is especially beneficial in winter when the battery needs extra energy to stay operational.
Map
What is an electric vehicle charging station?
An EV charging station is a dedicated location where electric vehicles can recharge their batteries, similar to how a traditional petrol station fuels cars, but using electricity instead of petrol or diesel.
These charge points are fully accessible to drivers and can be found in public spaces, retail car parks, forecourts, and other key locations. Wenea’s UK network includes over 400 charge points, offering a range of power levels, including ultra-rapid chargers at 300 kW, 150 kW, and 50 kW, to suit different vehicle types and charging needs.
If you own or manage a site that could be ideal for EV charging, you can partner with Wenea to install charge points and benefit from long-term rental income while supporting the transition to cleaner transport.
These charge points are fully accessible to drivers, in the same way as a traditional petrol station. Our locator puts at your disposal the more than 400 available charging points that are part of the Wenea network in the UK. Find ultra-rapid charging stations and the different power ratings offered by the sector, such as 300 kW, 150 kW or 50 kW for example. If you have a location where you think it would be suitable to install charging for electric vehicles, you can join our network and enjoy the advantages of being part of the Wenea community, such as long-term rental income.
What types of connectors are there?
- CSS Combo: Continuous charging connector based on the European charging standard. It allows charging up to 500 kW.
- CHAdeMO: Continuous charging connector implemented by some Asian vehicle manufacturers, which allows bi-directional charging (charging to the car and from the car to the house or the grid).
- Type 2: European standard AC connector, also known as Mennekes. Allows charging up to 7.4 kW in single-phase and 22 kW in three-phase.

How can I filter the charging stations?
If you are looking to filter the charging stations in our app, it’s very easy! In the top right corner of the map, you will see a button with a ‘Filters’ icon. Just click it and you will be able to filter charging stations by speed, from slow to ultra-fast charging, connector or operator, being able to charge on the Wenea network or at the many stations we interoperate with. This way, you can find the charging station that suits you best.
TIP: If you are looking for ultra-rapid charging and don’t want to waste time, we have the perfect solution for you. Just filter our chargers (e.g. by +100 kW or +150 kW) and you will be able to charge in just 15 minutes.
Why don't I see any Wenea stations on the map?
If you are having trouble seeing all our charging stations on the map, you may have a filter activated, don’t worry, it’s easy to fix. When you open the application, simply click on the filters icon and you will see all the available options. If you want to add a filter, select ‘Apply’. But if you prefer to see all our charge points, just click on ‘Reset’.
What do the colours of the icons on the map mean?
These colours indicate the status of the charge points.
– Green indicates that the charging point is available.
– Red indicates that the charging point is not available at the moment but will be available soon.
– Black and yellow indicate that the charging point is under maintenance.
In addition, the icons on the maps indicate the type of station. You will find Wenea stations and interoperable stations.
Want to see the legend of the points? No problem! You can find it by clicking on the ‘I’ icon in the menu.

Payment Methods
How can I add my bank card?
To add your bank card, navigate to the ‘Wallet’ option in the main menu, select ‘add a bank card’, and input your bank details. We will authorise a charge of £0.01 which will not be refunded. If you require any assistance, please reach out to our support team.
Why am I being charged a hold on my payment during the charging process?
During the charging process with Wenea EV chargers, you may notice a hold of up to £45 on your payment method. This is known as a preauthorisation fee. The preauthorisation amount is not actually deducted from your account; rather, it is held temporarily to ensure that your account has the necessary funds to cover the cost of the energy you will use.
Once your charging session is complete, the preauthorisation amount is released, and you are only charged for the actual energy delivered. If you have any questions or encounter issues, please contact our customer service on 0800 208 8897.
What payment methods are accepted?

Why am I being charged a hold on my payment during the charging process?
When you charge at one of our stations using our app, your bank will retain a security and verification fee. If you choose the full charge, it will be £25 but if you prefer to do it partially, it will only be the amount you have chosen plus £1.
But don’t worry, once you have finished charging, your payment will be adjusted to the exact amount, according to the energy you have charged. However, please note that the time it will take for your bank to return the money will depend on their policies and the conditions of your card. If the charge doesn’t work the first time, don’t worry, you can try again by reusing the previous card. And if you need to change the amount of the charge, a new block will be made with the amount you have chosen. We hope we have cleared up your doubts!
TIP: If several weeks have passed and you still haven’t received your money back, don’t worry! What you can do is talk to your bank to find a solution together, they will surely help you to solve it as soon as possible!
