The first chargepoints were deployed in collaboration with Torbay Council and Mid Devon District Council, while others will be commissioned alongside East Devon District Council, Teignbridge District Council, South Hams District Council, West Devon District Council, and Kenton Parish Council. This forms part of a broader initiative to increase EV charging accessibility across the county, while connecting rural areas. This milestone marks the official launch of the project, with more chargepoints planned in future phases that will complement Wenea’s existing deployment in Devon.  The Deletti project is dedicated to providing practical charging solutions that encourage the use of electric vehicles, especially for residents without off-street parking. Strategically placed across Devon, these initial chargepoints offer convenient access for residents – especially those who rely on on-street parking – while tourists, residents and businesses will benefit throughout Devon. This will help to meet the growing demand for EV infrastructure in the county prescribed by DCC’s Electrical Vehicle Charging Strategy.  The launch of this second project in Devon represents the growing strategic collaboration between Wenea and local authorities in the county, with a shared mission to advance sustainable transportation and support the county's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. This initial deployment includes a combination of mostly rapid but also standard charging installations, allowing for versatile charging options tailored to varying local needs and dwell times.  Commenting on the progress, Nick Barton, Project Manager, stated: “Working alongside teams from across the various Devon councils we are rolling out rapid charging in areas where there has been little to none up until now, providing EV users with charging provision where it is most needed.”  Wenea’s Director of Operations, Gustavo Prince said: “Wenea is committed to delivering a comprehensive network of EV charging stations across Devon, with the goal of encouraging the take-up of EVs in the county and supporting the tourism industry. Devon’s EV Charging Strategy identifies that transport represents around one third of Devon’s emissions. We’re proud to deliver infrastructure that will contribute to a reduction in those emissions and make Devon’s residents more connected.” [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width="stretch_row" css=".vc_custom_1670934072620{background: #f1f3f7 url(https://wenea.com/uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2022/12/fondo-uk-blog.jpg?id=57680) !important;}"][vc_column][vc_empty_space height="50px"][ezy_heading heading_text="Contact us" heading_text_html_tag="h2" heading_text_thickness="font-weight-bold" heading_text_color="text-color-dark" css_animation="fadeInUpShorter" css_animation_delay="0" heading_text_style="true" heading_text_size="28" heading_text_margin_bottom="5"][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][ezy_icon_box icon_box_layout="icon-box-style-6" icon_linear="lnr lnr-envelope" icon_size="text-8" title_text="marketing@wenea.com" title_text_color="custom" sub_title_text="Contact:" title_text_style="true" title_text_color_custom="#f4992d"][/ezy_icon_box][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][ezy_heading heading_text="Wenea selected to power the Midlands with 350 EV Charging bays" heading_text_thickness="font-weight-bold" heading_text_style="true" css=".vc_custom_1731319903453{margin-top: 3rem !important;}"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height="50px"][vc_column_text]West Midlands, 18 of November — Wenea, in partnership with Black Country Transport, is pleased to announce the completion of the first phase of the Black Country Transport On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme (BCT ORCS), with 18 new electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints now operational. This project, supported by the Office of Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV), is a significant step forward in creating a reliable, accessible EV charging network across the West Midlands. The first phase has successfully delivered chargepoints in four areas: eight in Wolverhampton, six in Walsall, two in Dudley, and two in Sandwell. These sites mark the beginning of a multi-phase project designed to provide convenient charging solutions for residents without off-street parking. Phases two and three are now underway, with more than 100 additional confirmed locations, as the scheme expands to serve communities throughout the Black Country. The BCT ORCS initiative aims to increase EV adoption by making charging accessible to all, supporting the West Midlands’ wider strategy for net-zero emissions. The project’s focus on low-speed, on-street charging offers a practical and sustainable solution for daily EV needs in residential areas, helping bridge the current infrastructure gap. This expansion not only strengthens Wenea's presence in the UK, where we already operate over 270 chargepoints, but also directly contributes to the UK's goal of achieving 300,000 public chargepoints by 2030. By growing the network of accessible, on-street chargers in residential areas, Wenea is addressing critical infrastructure gaps that have previously limited EV adoption, particularly for residents without private driveways, and helping to drive the nation closer to its sustainable transport objectives. Wenea’s Directors of Operations, Gustavo Prince said: "Wenea is proud to lead the charge in the Midlands’ transition to sustainable transport through initiatives like the First Midlands EV Infrastructure Consortium and the Black Country Transport On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme. Combined, these projects will deliver over 400 chargepoints across the region, enabling more residents to transition to electric vehicles. By working collaboratively with local authorities, we are not only supporting the UK’s ambitious transport goals but also strengthening Wenea’s position as a key provider of EV infrastructure in the Midlands." Brieuc Picard, Project Manager, commented: “The relationship with the different councils has been highly collaborative, and their support has been instrumental in moving the project forward smoothly. Communication has been open and constructive, allowing us to address any challenges efficiently. Overall, the project is progressing well, meeting key milestones, and we’re on track to achieve our goals together. Beyond just installing EV charging infrastructure, we’re actively contributing to the community's broader shift toward greener transportation, ensuring the project delivers carbon and pollution reduction across the West Midlands.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width="stretch_row" css=".vc_custom_1670934072620{background: #f1f3f7 url(https://wenea.com/uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2022/12/fondo-uk-blog.jpg?id=57680) !important;}"][vc_column][vc_empty_space height="50px"][ezy_heading heading_text="Contact us" heading_text_html_tag="h2" heading_text_thickness="font-weight-bold" heading_text_color="text-color-dark" css_animation="fadeInUpShorter" css_animation_delay="0" heading_text_style="true" heading_text_size="28" heading_text_margin_bottom="5"][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][ezy_icon_box icon_box_layout="icon-box-style-6" icon_linear="lnr lnr-envelope" icon_size="text-8" title_text="marketing@wenea.com" title_text_color="custom" sub_title_text="Contact:" title_text_style="true" title_text_color_custom="#f4992d"][/ezy_icon_box][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][ezy_heading heading_text="Wenea selected to power the Midlands with 350 EV Charging bays " heading_text_thickness="font-weight-bold" heading_text_style="true" css=".vc_custom_1731319903453{margin-top: 3rem !important;}"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height="50px"][vc_single_image image="58630" img_size="700x467" alignment="center"][vc_column_text]The Midlands, 11th of November — Wenea is pleased to announce a partnership with the First Midlands EV Infrastructure Consortium (FMEVIC) to deploy 350 electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints across five local authorities in the Midlands. Wenea will deliver an end-to-end EV charging solution spanning from network design and deployment through to the operation of the charging infrastructure. This project, partially funded by the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) scheme, marks a significant step towards expanding EV charging infrastructure and promoting the adoption of electric vehicles across the Midlands.  This initiative will bring the first on-street EV charging infrastructure to Leicestershire, Herefordshire, Rutland, Stoke-on-Trent and one other county. The focus is on making EV charging accessible to residents, especially those without access to off-street parking, by strategically placing charging points to best meet the needs of local communities.  The selection of charging sites has been a thoughtful process conducted in collaboration with the consortium members and backed by extensive research. We are prioritising areas with limited access to off-street parking to stimulate growing demand for EV infrastructure. This strategic placement ensures a balanced deployment across the region, supporting the widespread transition to electric mobility and the net zero goals of each local authority.  The deployment will include a mostly low-speed charging experience to serve each community’s daily charging needs, complemented by rapid and ultra-rapid charging in some local authority-owned car parks or on-street. This mix ensures the coverage of various charging needs, from daily commuting to longer journeys.  Gustavo Prince, Head of Wenea UK, emphasised the importance of this partnership: "We are thrilled to collaborate with the councils forming the First Midlands EV Infrastructure Consortium (FMEVIC), expanding our presence across the UK. The FMEVIC project represents an exciting step in our mission to make electric vehicle charging accessible to all in the UK, securing one of the first LEVI-backed concessions. By strategically deploying chargers across the Midlands, we are not only addressing current infrastructure gaps but also paving the way for a more sustainable and inclusive future for electric mobility”. Councillor Finlay Gordon-McCusker, cabinet member for transport, infrastructure and regeneration at Stoke-on-Trent City Council, said: “We are delighted to be working with Wenea and the consortium to deliver electric vehicle charging points across Stoke-on-Trent. We know we have a shortage of chargers in the city at the moment and this partnership will take us one step closer to being able to meet future demand. This work forms part of our wider ambition to improve transport infrastructure in the city to make it as easy and affordable as possible for people to get around and will play a key part in helping to decarbonise our local transport network to make our city a greener and healthier place to live”. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width="stretch_row" css=".vc_custom_1670934072620{background: #f1f3f7 url(https://wenea.com/uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2022/12/fondo-uk-blog.jpg?id=57680) !important;}"][vc_column][vc_empty_space height="50px"][ezy_heading heading_text="Contact us" heading_text_html_tag="h2" heading_text_thickness="font-weight-bold" heading_text_color="text-color-dark" css_animation="fadeInUpShorter" css_animation_delay="0" heading_text_style="true" heading_text_size="28" heading_text_margin_bottom="5"][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][ezy_icon_box icon_box_layout="icon-box-style-6" icon_linear="lnr lnr-envelope" icon_size="text-8" title_text="marketing@wenea.com" title_text_color="custom" sub_title_text="Contact:" title_text_style="true" title_text_color_custom="#f4992d"][/ezy_icon_box][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row]
