Frequently asked questions about our stations
Here you’ll find responses to the most common queries from our users.
What is a charging station for electric vehicles?
The concept of an EV charging station is a colloquial way of referring to locations adapted the charging of electric vehicles. It combines the concept of a traditional service station with the reference to electricity as a source of energy to power our vehicles.
These charge points are fully accessible to drivers, in the same way as a traditional petrol station. Our locator puts at your disposal the more than 270 available charging points that are part of the Wenea network in the UK. Find ultra-rapid charging stations and the different power ratings offered by the sector, such as 300 kW, 150 kW or 50kW for example. If you have a location where you think it would be suitable to install charging for electric vehicles, you can join our network and enjoy the advantages of being part of the Wenea community, such as long-term rental income.
What types of connectors are there?
- CSS Combo: Continuous charging connector based on the European charging standard. It allows charging up to 500 kW.
- CHAdeMO: Continuous charging connector implemented by some Asian vehicle manufacturers, which allows bi-directional charging (charging to the car and from the car to the house or the grid).
- Type 2: European standard AC connector, also known as Mennekes. Allows charging up to 7.4 kW in single-phase and 22 kW in three-phase.
What charging power do electric vehicle chargers offer?
Our network covers all charging needs:
– Destination charging and Wenea Home: from 7 kW to 22 kW (slow and fast charging).
– Rapid and ultra-rapid public charging: from 50 kW up to 400 kW, designed to recover range in just a few minutes.
This way, you can choose the option that best fits your journey — whether charging at home, in the city, or during long trips.
What do the colours of the icons on the map mean?
This colours indicate the status of the charge points.
– Green indicates that the charging point is available.
– Red indicates that the charging point is not available at the moment, but will be available soon.
– Black and yellow indicate that the charging point is under maintenance.
In addition, the icons on the maps indicate the type of station. You will find Wenea stations and interoperable stations.
Want to see the legend of the points? No problem! You can find it by clicking on the ‘I’ icon in the menu.
How can I filter the charging stations?
If you are looking to filter the charging stations in our app, it’s very easy! In the top right corner of the map, you will see a button with a “Filters” icon. Just click it and you will be able to filter charging stations by speed, from slow to ultra-fast charging, connector or operator, being able to charge on the Wenea network or at the many stations we interoperate with. This way, you can find the charging station that suits you best.
TIP: If you are looking for ultra-rapid charging and don’t want to waste time, we have the perfect solution for you. Just filter our chargers (e.g. by +100 kW or +150 kW) and you will be able to charge in just 15 minutes.
Why don't I see any Wenea stations on the map?
If you are having trouble seeing all our charging stations on the map, you may have a filter activated, don’t worry, it’s easy to fix. When you open the application, simply click on the filters icon and you will see all the available options. If you want to add a filter, select “Apply”. But if you prefer to see all our charge points, just click on “Reset”.
